The Possibilities of AmyAmy is the ultimate trophy girl—gorgeous face, killer body, and a vivacious personality. But there’s something else about her, something that makes her even more special. Amy is new. A transfer student from out of state, she’s starting her senior year without knowing a soul. And that means she’s up for grabs, available.

Infatuated from the moment he sees her, David is determined to meet Amy, and if the fates are willing, to spend the rest of his life with her. But his shyness prevents him from approaching her—until his friends devise a contest to determine who will be the first to prove their manhood by seducing her.

This coming-of-age story about high school dating and relationships contains mature language and situations, and is best suited for a Mature/Adult reader.

Dave thinks he's just fallen in love...with the new girl Amy. The moment he sees her, he knows she's the one for her. So when his friend Pete decides to make Amy his new conquest, Dave will be forced to step out of his comfort zone if he wants a shot at making her his.

I can honestly say I think the guys' behavior is pretty spot on. I used to be friends with mostly guys growing up, and although they typically tried to behave around me, I wasn't blind to all the sexual innuendos. A lot of teenage guys are horny and pretty disrespectful when they get together to talk about girls. And this group of 'losers' (as they would be classified at school) is no exception. And although Dave isn't much of a participant when Amy becomes the topic of discussion, I have no doubt he's joined in on the fun for other girls.

His buddy Pete is the sleaziest of all, and the girls at school know it, so it's hard for him to get a date. But that doesn't keep him from updating some ridiculous list daily about which girls he'd like to conquer before the end of senior year. As if. But when new girl Amy begins school, he thinks he can slide in (literally) if he can befriend her before she really gets to know anyone. Disgusted by his friend's intentions for his perfect dream girl, Dave sets out to get her attention too.

My one complaint is that we don't really get to know Amy very well, so it really leaves the reader wondering what she's all about. With little to go on, we're left to deduce our own feelings. And for me, I think Amy's the biggest player of all in this novella. Why? Well, apparently she's pretty gorgeous. Which surprises me, since the popular crowd hasn't moved in on her, cause let's face it, they can be pretty shallow when it comes to beauty. Now Amy moves around several times a year, so I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt and think that's she's learned to avoid their advances because she's been burned by superficiality too many times. But these two guys are termed as losers, so I can kinda picture what they look like. Why would a beauty say yes to the loser? Personally, I think she comes off as sweet and innocent, but inside, she just likes to screw with people. She avoids the sexual advances of Pete because he's too aggressive, and complains that guys just think she's some dumb, easy blonde. Well, that's fair...except when Dave is too shy to make a move on her, she finds his lack of aggression respectful, then turns around and becomes the aggressor herself. And what this girl is willing to do with a guy she literally met the day before, is anything but innocent. Quite frankly, it proves she's more experienced in her sexuality than she lets on. And she does all this knowing her family is moving again and she'll never set foot in that school again.

But here's the saddest part of all. Dave is left longing for Amy his entire life. And it's pathetic, because he doesn't even realize that if Amy really liked him, she wouldn't have cut him off like that. This isn't the dark ages. There are cell phones (which, by the way, she never gives him her digits), texting, Skyping, video chat rooms, Face Time, etc. And they're in their senior year, so they'll be able to go anywhere they want to soon enough. It's so sad how clueless Dave really is. One night with his dream girl and she ruined him for every other girl out there.

The review was pretty straight forward with what's going in in this book... Personally, I tend to agree with their interpretation of the male teenager and it has definitely piqued my interest in Amy. Unfortunately I had to move over the summer and my daughter is now a senior in a strange school with no real friends to speak of... yet! But I'd love to share this book with her and get her point of view also!

Nice review Devon.
I saw this book just a little while back, and it sounded like something I would definitely like to read. I have to admit, from what you've said, the guys in the book all sounds like jerks for the most part. LOL Still, I think I would like to read it at some point. :)
